    Chain

The chain is a jewel to be worn around the neck, it consists of a succession of regular patterns (the links).

The chains are always in metal (alloys or pure gold).

The chains are often intended to support a pendentive often out of metal him also (cross, identary motive...).

   Necklace

The necklace is also a jewel to be worn around the neck, but it is not necessarily made of regular patterns, and can be made of different materials (metals, pearls, textiles, shells, plastics ...).

The essential difference with the chain is the thickness of a much larger necklace and the fact that the necklace is a jewel in itself and not a support intended to wear a pendant.

    pendants

The pendants are works representing various symbols (cross, crescent, star, initials, signs ...) to signify the identity and conviction of a person, or for purposes of pure aesthetics. They have a handle intended to be slipped on a chain whose regular and fine patterns allow the insertion contrary to the necklace.

   Ring

The ring is a jewel intended to be worn on the finger.

        Wedding Ring

The wedding ring is essentially a gift of love.

It is offered of course during the wedding ceremony, hence its origin and name, but also on occasions such as wedding anniversaries.

It is a regular piece of jewelry usually made of a single metal ring, but can be set with stones all around its circumference.

It is usually worn on the ring finger of the left hand.

It is a feminine jewel, as well as masculine, men usually wearing classic wedding rings without setting, while women's rings are decorated with various stones and cuts.

        Rush Ring

Quite close aesthetically to the wedding ring, the rush rings are however more massive and have no particular significance related to marriage for example.

Moreover the rush ring is surmounted by an overhang set or not, of different shapes (oval, square ...), and does not consist of a regular ring like the wedding ring.

There are models for men and women.

        Marquise ring

It is a ring acquired or offered for any occasion, it has no particular meaning other than the pleasure of wearing the jewel.

It consists of a ring decorated with a stone cut in a marquise shape (two half ellipses).  It is a feminine jewel.

        Solitaire

Also ring to offer on any occasion, the solitaire is made of a ring and decorated with claws on which a stone is set. The metal ring is thinner than the other types of rings. It is a feminine jewel.

        Chevalière

The signet ring is a large ring, historically worn by men on the left ring finger, it consists of a large ring surmounted by a large platform representing a pattern (initial, animals, signs ...).

There are models of ladies' signet rings that are becoming more and more common.

It is a jewel that serves to affirm an identity. It can be offered for a birthday, for the 18 years of the boy becoming a man for example.

   Bracelets

The bracelet is a jewel intended to be worn around the wrist.

Thin and diverse for ladies, it is rather delicate in the form of bracelets or chains for men.

           Chain bracelets

They are metal bracelets made of chain links.

Contrary to the chain intended to wear a medallion or pendant around the neck, chain bracelets contain various patterns and materials (plastic, pearls, set stones ...), some links can be set with stone, since the bracelet is not intended to wear a link. However small medallions are sometimes hung on these chains.

The advantage of these bracelets is their flexibility, since they are deformable at will because of the mobile links.

            They are essentially feminine jewels.

            Rush bracelets

This type of bracelet is curved and massive, it is formed of a metal ring, or portions of intertwined rings.

The shape of the rings can be round or oval, some bracelets of this type have their ring deformed in the form of waves for example to give a different aesthetic appearance.

The width of these bracelets is very variable, they can be formed with clasps for easy insertion on the wrist, or not.

Some models are also made of an open ring, like the so-called "slave bracelets" since they have an antique shape.

The advantage of these bracelets is their rigidity since they are made of massive parts.

            They are essentially feminine jewels.

            Ball bracelets

They are bracelets made of small metal balls, in the manner of links, but only made of small balls (the balls are made of two empty half-spheres welded together to avoid a heavy weight to the bracelet). Its interest is aesthetic.

The pearl bracelet is on the same model composed of round and regular pearls.

            They are essentially feminine jewels.

The bracelets plates - bracelets bracelets

They are used to carry a person's identity.

They are composed of an identity plate, set or not, bearing a name, a first name or a motif, supported by two half chains linked by a clasp.

Used as a baby's jewelry (birth gift), they are called plaque bracelets, or more massive and especially worn by men in the form of a bracelet, often in gold, silver or alloy, they have a strong meaning.

    Earrings

The jewelry adorning the ear are earrings and rings (creole earrings).

For most models the earlobe requires a micro-perforation to place the ring or the nail of the jewel. Some models called clipped models avoid this perforation by holding the jewel by pressure on the lobe.

            Ear studs

Composed of a pattern crimped or not, worn at the perforated ear without a ring (pattern connected to the ear by a nail).

            Clipped earrings

These are earrings made of a clasp called clip that exerts pressure on the earlobe to allow the loop to be held in place.

Two types of these clips exist, a model for pierced earrings (which includes a nail), and a model only composed of a clip for undrilled ears.

            Creole earrings

Worn by both men and women, they consist of one or more metal rings.

Chiseled, twisted or accompanied by motifs, they are then especially a feminine jewel, the masculine jewel is rather made up of a simple straight ring.

It is advised not to keep them during the sleep to avoid marks on the face or the deformation of the jewel.

            Closing systems

There are 3 types of classic earring closures.

Breakaway closure systems, studded systems (ear studs) and sleeper systems.

This last type (with sleeper), is certainly the one which ensures the best maintenance, but it is not always possible to place it on all the jewels, all depends on the shape of this jewel. It is thus the shape that determines the closing system used.

    Pendants

The pendants are jewels representing a religious, national, aesthetic or other motive having a meaning for the person who wears it.

Often made of metal alloy, or pure gold or silver, they can also be made of natural materials such as ivory for example, any combination of malleable materials can be considered.

They are almost always intended to be worn on a chain around the neck or wrist, hence the presence of a handle in which to slide the chain.

Common types of pendants are zodiac signs (Chinese or European), religious signs (Christian, Jewish or Islamic), national characters, names, aesthetic signs (animals, flowers ...).

   Signs of the zodiac

        European

        Chinese

    Jewelry with religious characteristics

        Christian
            Cross

The crosses vary according to the Christian denomination, some representing Christ on the Cross, others representing a naked cross. The sign of the Hugueneaux or the cross of the four winds, a Protestant symbol that is still very popular today.

Other larger and chiselled crosses, sometimes set and decorated, symbolize the faith and history of other Christian confessions such as the Churches of the East.

            Pisces

Some evangelical Christian denominations prefer fish or 'ictus' as a sign of recognition. This was the sign used by some of the early Christians, as in the Roman catacombs.

            Characters

                Marie

                Christ

        Islam
  • Moon
  • Hand of Fatima
        Judaism
  • Star of David
  • Tables of the Law

Symbols rarer under our regions, like the Buddhist signs (Buddha ...) or Hindu signs are also more and more in demand with the increase of followers of these religions.

    Engravings

        Names

Pendants representing the names of the calendar are very common.

Rarer or foreign-sounding names can be custom-made.

        Artistic

Secular symbols are gradually replacing religious symbols.

The loss of religious values in our society sees the aesthetic value of pendants coming back to the foreground more than belonging to a faith group.

Animals such as dolphins, for example, are highly prized. Signs such as those of the Wild West (Indian head) are also classics of the genre.

    Others

        National characters

Let us quote for example the Moorish head for the Corsican belonging.

        Military signs

            Military medals are one example.

Another type of jewelry representing a motif are brooches.

Brooches are jewelry to be worn on the garment at the location of the torso, very often on the left side.

Equipped with a pin they can be scratched on the garment.

Watches

    Technology

The watches sold by your jeweler are high-end watches, intended to be offered or worn for a long time.

        Analog

Analog watches are composed of a dial with a needle, and do not have an electronic system managing their movement, but spring systems.

Automatic watches, for example, are an example of high technology, high quality design, and do not require a battery or need to be wound since they are wound by the movement of the wrist alone.

        Digital

With an electronic display, or with a needle dial, the movement of these watches is managed by a system of electronic pulses (often based on quartz pulses). They are powered by lithium batteries or solar batteries that store the energy of light.

Today very sophisticated, some of them consume so little that they can work for 15 years without changing the batteries.

The metal very used for the manufacture is Titanium, light and very solid material.

The watches are almost all waterproof (Water Resist), but depending on their mention they can more or less resist to their immersion:

If there is no mention of water resistance, avoid contact with water.

Water resistant 30 m: Shower, Accidental immersion.

Waterproof 50 m: Swimming, No diving.

        Waterproof 100 m: Shallow dive.

Waterproof 200 m: Diving at high depth within the limit 200 m.
